The following is a list of terms and abbreviations used in Driving Instruction
ADI - Approved Driving Instructor
Cat B - Category B Vehicle ie normal car
Check Test - A test of Driving Instructors every two to four years to ensure that their Instruction is of a high enough standard
Debrief - The examiners explanation at the end of the test
Dip DI - Diploma in Driving Instruction
DIA - Driving Instructors Association
DSA - Driving Standards Agency
DVLA - Driver and Vehicle Licencing Authority
DTC - Driving Test Centre
Grade 6 - Highest grade a Driving Instructor can get
HPT - Hazard Perception Test
IAM - Institute of Advanced Motorists
LGV - Large Goods Vehicle
MoT - Ministry of Transport, who among other things supervise the annual testing of motor vehicles
MSA - Motor Schools Association
TIR - Turn in the Road (commonly called Three Point Turn)
